I am back with my Blog. This time it was North Bengal, yes the beautiful North Bengal. The venue was Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College. My first organized event outside of Kolkata. It was quite an awesome experience. Thanks to Swarnava Sengupta for giving me company regarding Budget, Logistics, Planning and other stuffs.
I would mention two names here, one is Shiladittya Paul and another one is Ranendra Bose, the FSAs of Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, without whose cooperation this event would have been so unsuccessful.
Wowoo.. Writing this blog on the day of HOLI.. 😀 Happy, Safe & Prosperous Holi Guys and girls.. 🙂 Now, let us come to the point. MozBoot – SVIST, where SVIST stands for an engineering college name situated in South Kolkata – Swami Vivekananda Institute of Science & Technology. To remind you this was my 3rd event organized by myself. I, Mr. Ayan Choudhury with the help of Mozilla representative Biraj Karmakar, was able to organize this event on the day of 23rd February, 2015. For getting the event details please click here. It was quite a poor response but to be mentioned those 30 pupils were very much interested in Mozilla Mission. What made me happy was their enthusiasm. We four able to make our time to reach the venue within 10 A.M. 1. Biraj Karmakar 2. Sumantro Mukherjee 3. Sukanta Pal 4. Ayan Choudhury The agenda of that day was as follows:
Boot2KGP – IIT Kharagpur, this is one of the biggest Mozilla Events I have ever attended. Around 100-150 enthusiastic participants were so much ready to join the hackathon. I was really amused watching them.
Our session divided into 3 parts. One was at Kalidas Auditorium Hall, the 2nd one was at Nalanda Complex and the 3rd one also at the same place.
Sayak Sarkar, Sumantro Mukherjee, Debapriya Bhattacharya & Me was in charge of the Kalidas Auditorium where we discussed about Mozilla and Its Mission, we discussed about Firefox OS architecture, Mozilla Webmaker Project & Mozilla Geolocation Stumbler. It started at around 10:30 p.m. and ended at 1 a.m.. Meanwhile Soumya Deb, Jai Pradeesh & Swarnava Sengupta left for Nalanda complex to start with the overnight hackathon. We completed our session at around 1:00 a.m. & then join with them for the overnight hackathon.
The hackathon part was divided into two parts.
1. Firefox OS App Development
2. Firefox OS Core Development
Jai Pradeesh took care of the Firefox OS App development & Soumya Deb took care of the Firefox OS Core Development. We were among the participants to help then with the issues they were facing. It was a nice interactive session for the whole night. As this was my first overnight event for Mozilla, really I was very much excited and enjoyed a lot during the event.
I specially want to thank Swarnava for organizing this event & also Gaurav Jain the FSA of IIT KGP for helping Swarnava making the event successful.
This is Ayan, a Mozillian from Kolkata and volunteering at biggest Hive event at Kharagpur on 20th-21st December, 2015. I am reporting from my booth – WEBMAKER 1 – X-Ray & Thimble..
The definition of awesomeness was realized by me again, hell yea its all over again at Hive Kharagpur!!! Merely it was a place for fun, merely it was an event. Yes the thing it was, was the togetherness and determination of every mozillians in Kolkata & Kharagpur to make something good, to learn teach and share, to make Hive Successful. “Hive KGP” the best-est thing of 2014 according to me.
Overview of Hive:
Hives are comprised of organizations (libraries, museums, schools and non-profit startups) and individuals (educators, designers, community catalysts and makers). Together, they create opportunities for youth to learn within and beyond the confines of traditional classroom experiences, design innovative practices and tools that build the field for greater impact, and contribute to their own professional development within an active community of practice.
The Hive model is supported by three levels of engagement: Events: Organizations with shared learning goals unite to provide a fun, engaging event for youth as a first step towards exploring longer-term collaboration. Hive Learning Communities: Community organizers with an interest in Hive’s core principles come together to begin putting connected learning tools and practices into practice through regular meet-ups and events. Hive Learning Networks: Officially designated Learning Networks with an operational budget and staff commit to promoting innovative, open-source learning models in partnership with a communities’ civic and cultural organizations, businesses, entrepreneurs, educators and learners.
On the occasion of the inaugurating the Firefox Club of WBUT, Mozilla Kolkata Community organised an event. The main purpose of the event was to promote the awareness of FOSS and Mission Mozilla and to invite new contributors, recruiting new FSA and many other things.
After a long venue problem at last we were done with Maker Party Kolkata. The venue was Gurunanak Institute of Technology.
Date:- 13.09.2014 Venue:- Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Sodpur, Kolkata. Time:- 10 am to 5.30 pm.
It was the first ever maker party organized by Mozilla Kolkata Community in a very short span of time and specially the event was organized without any budget.
