Diseases that don’t kill

Diseases that don’t kill

Recycled Dreams

We have mostly known life by two shades, it has always been bi-everything: Good or Bad, White or Black, Success or failure and the list goes long.

But, today let?s for once focus on something that?s worse than being on lowest end of the spectrum, its being ‘mediocre’.You are neither winning nor losing, you are basically oscillating within a small range that can be marked safely as mediocrity.

As for different diseases people deal with, some are visibly sick, maybe dying and a handful have only consumed medicines to battle cough and cold or for some seasonal attacks but then there are some of us, who swallow pills day in and out, that are critical for their life and well-being, they seem perfectly okay, healthy, happy but they are fighting, for everything that they do, for everything they wish to achieve, for every day that they want to survive normally…

Bengali-India FUEL Meetup

Bengali-India FUEL Meetup

First of all I want to give a brief description on FUEL project. FUEL is an open source effort that aims to solve the problem of inconsistency and lack of standardization in software translation across platforms. FUEL provides linguistic and technical resources, such as standardized terminology resources, computer translation style and convention guides, assessment methodologies, complex text-layout rendering references, and translation assessment matrices. FUEL can be adopted by any localized content-generating organization or team that wants to ensure consistently high quality. The approach of FUEL to create linguistic resources is not different from any software development. The uniqueness of the idea behind FUEL is the power of collaborative innovation.

Last Week, on 22nd February we the Bengali India Community organized an event named as bn_IN FUEL Meetup. A group of 15 enthusiastic localizers were invited to the event but hardly 10 came up and atlast 4-5 members worked hard to complete those 3 given FUEL projects.

On the first phase Biraj Karmakar, the organizer of this event took us to the depth of the FUEL projects. Where hr told us about the FUEL Terminology , Style Guide , Assessment Matrix.

On the very next half we started contributing to the Pontoon projects of FUEL terminologies. There were 3 new comers. We started to give them task and they were submitting and side by side we were also reviewing their submissions. Then as we had a very short time left. We divided ourselves into two parts. Me and Biraj Karmakar. I started the cloud part and biraj da started the web part.

At the end of the day, few strings were left. I came back home and sat down with those strings and finished it within that night only. 🙂

Thanks to Mozilla and obviously Biraj Karmakar for this event and I also want to thank Matjaž Horvat for setting up this project in pontoon. Pontoon is just soo Freaking AWESOME. 🙂

Special thanks to Rajesh Ranjan  and entire FUEL team who gave us this chance.

And yes till now, I am the top most contributor at Pontoon.. 🙂 😀 which inspires me a lot.. 🙂

Top Contributors of Pontoon.

I want to mention some names at the end who helped us to complete the project on that day only. They are:

1. Mainak Roy Chowdhury

2. Koustav Samadder (Reviewer)

3. Pavak Paul

4. Biraj Karmakar (Reviewer)

5. Sayantan Saha

6. Ayan Choudhury (Reviewer)

Now Some Glimpses of that day.. 🙂

Boot2KGP – Kshitij 2015, IIT Kharagpur

Hi all,

Back with my blog post after a long gap. 🙂

Hope you all are doing good.

Boot2KGP – IIT Kharagpur, this is one of the biggest Mozilla Events I have ever attended. Around 100-150 enthusiastic participants were so much ready to join the hackathon. I was really amused watching them.

Our session divided into 3 parts. One was at Kalidas Auditorium Hall, the 2nd one was at Nalanda Complex and the 3rd one also at the same place.

Sayak Sarkar, Sumantro Mukherjee, Debapriya Bhattacharya & Me was in charge of the Kalidas Auditorium where we discussed about Mozilla and Its Mission, we discussed about Firefox OS architecture, Mozilla Webmaker Project & Mozilla Geolocation Stumbler. It started at around 10:30 p.m. and ended at 1 a.m.. Meanwhile Soumya Deb, Jai Pradeesh & Swarnava Sengupta left for Nalanda complex to start with the overnight hackathon. We completed our session at around 1:00 a.m. & then join with them for the overnight hackathon.

The hackathon part was divided into two parts.

1. Firefox OS App Development

2. Firefox OS Core Development

Jai Pradeesh took care of the Firefox OS App development & Soumya Deb took care of the Firefox OS Core Development. We were among the participants to help then with the issues they were facing. It was a nice interactive session for the whole night. As this was my first overnight event for Mozilla, really I was very much excited and enjoyed a lot during the event.

I specially want to thank Swarnava for organizing this event & also Gaurav Jain the FSA of IIT KGP for helping Swarnava making the event successful.
